This is one of the best sounding 50's Les Pauls on the planet! It started life as a 54 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop with P-90 pick-ups and a stop tail bridge. Greg Golden has owned this guitar since the early 70's and has replaced the pick-ups with super hot PAF late 50's pick-ups and replaced the bridge with a late 50's ABR bridge and tail piece. Greg owns hundreds of vintage Gibsons, but this one is by far his favorite. He plays it at every gig. The checked finish and wear from years of honest play makes this one of the coolest vintage LP's on the planet!
This particular 1954 LP is not for sale for obvious reasons, we are estimating the value in the $75,000 range. (Maybe more...) The good news is that the Gibson Custom Shop is doing an incredible job recreating these guitars (and the Murphy Lab is making some of the best reissues we have ever seen!), they truly do feel and sound like the vintage instruments they are replicating.
